Who's Gonna Win THAT Race? (Blog # 35)

Tortoise??

. Robert Stromberg has come out with being an award-winning director for his movie, Maleficent and now, during the Superbowl, showed us why he was good. Bringing the story of The Tortoise and The Hare into a new light, Stromberg gave us the normal story with a twist for a Mercedes-Benz commercial where the Tortoise actually drives the car into victory. I great concept and twist on the story for the commercial but it actually took 3 months to make, even just for character design on the different animal shown in the commercial.
They started out as sketches and then done in Photoshop, brought into Zbrush and then, into Maya.

The commercial is a great leap as it brings both, live-action and 3d animation together into a full world.

Hare??

. This commercial is super cute and the animation on the characters are so well done. I congratulate Stromberg. NICE JOB.

The combination of live-action and animation has always been a fav of mine but this is so well done and you could really see how it reminds me of Maleficent.

I'm Not One for Crowds (Blog #34)

Let's Execute This

. Usually when we watch a film, there's at least one scene with a huge crowd at a concert, or in the street, a fair or even, a zombie apocalypse. Crowds are an easy thing in real life but in film, do you really want to gather that many people just for that one part. Usually, no. I wouldn't want to do that. So, crowds are usually CGI'd in using only a small crowd.

There are many different quick tips on how to get this effect without the large price or even the time to bring in more people. One of them, being getting only about 5 people and using a close up of the main actor. This gives a nice effect or a "party" behind them and to even have someone move in front of them gives a nice setting. Or even just people walking around, it gives the "party" more life for your scene.

For those tricky zombie hordes, just get those 5 friends again and dress them up in different outfits, use some masks and BAM, you have clones.

What Do I Think

. I love this video, I really wanna use these in my own films just to see how it all works out!
They are super simple and easy to do and hey, I even have 5 friends I could use. (shocking, isn't it, me with 5 friends)
Having the actors use different outfits is really smart but it could get really repetitive if it's all the same people with the same hair, body type over and over again. But that's my opinion.

If Things Were Different (Video # 14)

This is a really strong short film that I really like that reflects on how, what if there was a world were everyone was gay, where being gay was the normal thing and being straight was the minority thing. The message is really strong and I simply love it.

When You're an Addams (Blog # 33)

Another week, gone.

Things are going by quickly and I wish that there was more time. A lot has been going on but I can't let it get the best of me.

This week, we worked on our Class Comp videos and I was able to finish mine on time, but I couldn't fix my video dimensions on time. I'm pretty disappointed in myself as my first plan for this was much more stronger and more personal. But, I can't change that now. We were also given editing tutorials about moving a camera through a wall and etc. Which seems really fun.

I would really like to learn how to manage time more while making these films and editing, my head is just not in the right place right now.

Musical rehearsal at school has been going great, lots of dancing and singing and there are so many dances to remember for the ancestors. (Which I am one)
'When You're An Addams' is one of the biggest numbers for dancing wise and sliding on your knees and rolling on your back are pretty hard to do in .5 seconds. It's really fun though to do this with one of my best friends as were both ancestors and I really hope the show will come out great!
(Pssst, you guys should totally come)

Just, a lot of bad things happened this week, a lot of drama between friends and my one friend tried stealing my prom date and etc. I rather not get to personal on here, this is all for fun.

Summing it Up:
