I'm Not Ready (Blog # 41)

Hello all.

I might be found dead come this Thursday as I'm in the final stretch for my school's musical and the show starts Thursday and I'm terrified.

Even so, this week we reviewed some of the classes work and mostly worked on our second editing tutorials which, I rather happy about! (for once)

I really wanna learn how to convey my stories more, as some of my ideas are super over the top and hard to understand at some points.

Again, this week was hell for me but some good came out of it as my musical is coming up and i'm excited and scared. Iv'e done some more art pieces for FNAF also!

I also came up with the idea of doing a FNAF cosplay for UBCon next month since, even though I wanna cosplay Eddie NOW, it's gonna be a lot of money and I'd have to cut off/buzz off a lot of my hair. So, I'm waiting but I'm planning to do a Purple Guy/Springtrap thing where, I'm just wearing a springtrap head (because I'm lazy) and purple guys outfit and I'll be able to open the mouth and I'll be purple guy inside and etc. It's pretty cool

Nothing really happened again this week that was bad, just the fact that my school grades have been falling because of the musical and lack of sleep/time.

(P.S) I ALSO FOUND THIS RANDOM PICTURE OF STEVE BUSCEMI ON MY COMPUTER

Why Shooting Everyday is the Best Way (Blog # 40)

LIGHT'S, CAMERA

. By shooting everyday, you begin to get used to the equipment you have and what it could really do and what it can't do. You begin to know where things are and even, how to do some neat tricks you could use. You get into a force of habit and practice never hurt anyone, even if you record a water bottle sitting a table. It's still something at least.
With continuous recording, ideas start to be made and more practice is done as you want to try new things like angles, frames, different people or even subjects. After that, you understand your strengths and weaknesses in your film making and that's what makes you professional. You take what your bad at and get better at them with time.

ACTION

. This makes sense as, if you keep doing something, you get better at it as I did do that with my drawing and here I am today. This could be used on everything. If you wanna get better at drawing, drawing something everyday, or sing everyday or whatever. Practice makes perfect in the end and this article could very well, help people by having them do this.

How Music Can Make Everything Better (Blog # 39)

Add Some Beat

. Carlos Baena, a 15 year animation veteran explains how music could be incorporated into your animation and how it could make it better. Animation and music could and will go hand in hand as they both use a type of movement to over the subject matter along. There are beats and tempos and there is a character or personality in both. Music based animations are not a new thing, examples being Fantasia, Fantasia 2000 or even The Jungle Book use music to use and to incorporate into a story or the movement of a character.
When working with a soundtrack, timing is always your best friend as the use of comedic or emotional timing is needed to be kept in mind to keep the viewer watching.
Keep in mind as well that the human body could be represented as different musical instruments to extenuate the movement or the actual instrument playing itself.

Needs More Cowbell

. I really like this article as music does play an important factor for animation/film in general as it makes a mood or adds emotion to the piece.
Using examples of Bugs Bunny was a great way also to show example of what it means to use music although, another good example would have been "The Cat Concerto" from Tom and Jerry

BIG AND LOUD (Video # 16)

Here's a clip from a movie that I grew up with and I truly adore. "Cats Don't Dance" is an animated film pretty much about these animals who are in showbiz but don't get the parts they want because they're animals. Darla Dimple is practically the satire evil version of Shirley Temple and I love her for it. Her song BIG AND LOUD is something that I always think of and, I just love this movie because of her.

I really recommend seeing it even though it's not the best, the musical moments in this movie and nice and the animation is very hyper active and always in movement when it needs to be.

Henry Selick (Video # 15)

Henry Selick is a great director and stop motion animator who directed Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline, he even made a favorite film of mine from my childhood. James and the Giant Peach.

School Til 7 at Night (Blog #38)

Hey guys, this week has been long for me and I just wanna sleep for days.
As many of you know, I'm in my school's musical of The Addams Family, well, I have been staying til 7 pm at school, dancing and it's tiring and really getting to me. It's fun but I'm so tired. I even had to come in Saturday morning and dance til 1 pm.

This week, we didn't really learn anything but I worked on my editing tutorials and let's just say, I have the worst wall cut ever. Nothing was working out.

I got to do some drag makeup and it came out pretty well!
I even got some drag king's attention and they're willing to help me out, so nice!!

(SO HANDSOME)

Nothing bad happened this week though, only for the fact is that some people are mean and they can-- (this has been censored for reasons)

Also, R.I.P Mr Nimoy, you'll always be in our hearts honorary grandfather. Live long and prosper, my friend <3

The Magic of Editing (Blog # 37)

Do's and Dont's

. Looking at this, it does go along with what is the now type of movie and how the film is. Editing is one of those things that people forget about and how much time it takes to edit a video/film and to make it in a way where people don't notice it. Kind of ironic.
If one notices the editing, it's bad editing but when nobody does, a good job was done and the editor deserves a pat on the back.

Editing also depends on the editors style and how they want something as well, what is pleasing to the eye and doesn't let the audience leave the screen.

Here it is

. Usually when I film, I like angles and different ways of shooting something problem. Only one camera and not multiple to make it easier for me to get those shots and not have my actor pause while i move the camera, fix the tripod and then shoot again to only do that a couple of more times.

It's really time consuming and sometimes, they move from their place so it looks awkward.

If only.

Some Top Reasons (Blog # 36)

Start From the Top

. While creating a demo reel, you mostly put examples of your animated work to show and give to people so you could get a job. Simple enough, although, many say that, you should put creature animation in their as well. Now, why is that?

The main reason is to show that, you WANT a job. You are willing to do more than your norm. Getting an animation job isn't easy and by being diverse. You show that you're able to spread out and do more and it looks better for you. Many companies look for variety in animation. One job you might animate people and in another, you might animate fire effects and etc. Show what you can do but also show what the studio might want.

Simply, there isn't just one type of animator, you're not a creature animator or a feature animator, together we are all animators.

Now At The Bottom

. This is really helpful for my personal future and I'll keep this in mind, thing is though. I don't even draw animals which bothers me. I gotta practice I guess but even so, understand that were just a simple animator and not a separate non-exsistant creature animator is quite cool because i might have the opportunity to animate different things.
