Bring me the Powers of Bay the Michael (Blog # 32)

Explosions are Pretty Wicked

. As we all know now, Michael Bay is a joke in itself. When we see an explosion we all automatically think of Michael Bay but, maybe that was his plan?

What if Michael Bay did this on purpose to just get the internets/everyone's attention just because of his overuse of explosions in movies.
The world may never know but, it's still pretty funny.

Although not denying, his techniques used in his action films have changed the industry and it went up ten fold because of him.

With Michael Bay, he focuses on shots of the film and uses techniques such a tennis ball to get an idea of the use of gravity for CG characters or regular actors. Many camera techniques are used as well, from car chases in Hong Kong from action scenes with the Autobots in the films.

Surprisingly so, Bay uses a lot of real life action scenes in his films from actual falling cars to even, like stated before, the car chase scenes.

Bay might be obsessed with explosions but his use of directing is quite interesting.

But Used WAY to Much

. Personally, i have nothing wrong with Michael Bay, he's alright. I might not agree to some of his choices in film making but, his movies are oddly fun to watch. Although, that's just me.

I found his techniques quite cool, even using a simple tennis ball to understand gravity which, is actually a wonderful technique but most of all, I respect his use of real life effects, like cars being smashed or them falling and exploding. It just gives it this nice element which I never knew he did!

So Mr. Bay. You have earned some brownie points with me.

There was a Heart here, It's Gone Now (Video #13)

A fan-made short film based around Silent Hill 2, one of my favorite games of all time. This is very well made and I really like it since it brings out the tone and feel of the backstory of James and Mary sunderland and it is able to give us more character between them. To understand them before everything happened.

I highly recommend this vid!!

College Bound! (Blog # 31)

Hiya!

Another week and ever so quickly, the year is coming down to the end. Kind of sad to think about but it's gotta happen.

Overall this week, Iv'e finished my PSA Project for Courage Persuaders, after some slight changes, I'm happy about it and it's quality. So, I guess that's a good thing. And my explosions project was handed in, two projects down and now, to get going on my Class Comp video.

Honestly, I really wanna learn how make camera based work a whole lot easier, wit doing different camera shots with only one camera.

Something great has been happening, Iv'e been chatting with some of my favorite Outlast artists on Tumblr! Foxpen and Danpee who are extremely nice people to talk with.

I also got some great news as I've been accepted into Villa Maria!

Nothing bad has happened this week (as far as i know) sooo, yeah.

We Can Start to Animate Real People!! ( Blog # 30)

Kind of Creepy

. As we know, in our animated films we have come a far way from just blocks talking to each other as our characters are starting to become more and more realistic but, we're still way away. Disney on the other hand, is doing research about the process of creating realistic people as for now, a realistic eye with dilating pupils, and not one is the same.
They took multiple people and created 3D Models of their eyes, re-creating their scalera and all and constructed a realistic eye, almost exact to the persons and in a way, created a rigging for a self dilating eye that could react to light on it's own.

This is still in process but, were one step further to have real people on screen...

BUT NOT.

Yeah, Totally Creepy

. This is really creepy to me. It's really really cool but creepy as were trying to making photo realistic humans when, they aren't human. It's kind of, what's the point if we could just make the film in live-action but at the same time, it's revolutionary if it could be done.

So far, the best realistic animated film I saw was The Adventures of TinTin which, I HIGHLY recommend.

Even so, were closer than ever.

Let's make a GIANT out of the Situation (Blog# 29)

Shrink-ray?

. From what we know, a bird's eye view or even a worm's eye view could change someone's height drastically and give off a wonderful mood for a tense scene or a comedy sketch but, their are other ways of giving that character some extra bulk in height.
By changing the height of a character or even an object, it doesn't just change the scene but it changes the very tone of it as well, making the audience focus of other things in the scene or makes them think of  a type of emotion because of it. It's more then just a size change.
Using wide angle lenses help give off a depth of making the subject in the foreground look larger than the subject or things in the background. Also, by just making props smaller also give off a sense of height.
Example being Citizen Kane and the change of the ceiling height to give more menacing emotions towards characters.
An obvious route for this effect is green screen effects, making the subject smaller or larger in a room or even sitting in a chair.

Even so, just a change of staging could make everything better.

or Large-ray??

. From what we know, there are many ways of changing the size or a person or object, some better than others and some easier than others. Even to just the change of an angle could do this. I personally find it rather interesting how this is done, example being how Jedediah and Octavius from Night at the Museum were sized down to create the illusion of size difference. It thought it super well done!

I'd love to practice with this in the future in some films/work.

Here Comes the Bride- (Blog #28)

Hey everyone!

Looks like were back to school but well, more like back for 3 days and then more break. I'm not complaining though, it's nice to be stuck at home again. Ha.
Anyways.

This "week" in BOCES we studied how explosions were made in AE and it's totally friggen' awesome, I can finally make things explode at my own will!!
We were then given a new project for making a small "film" using our new found knowledge on explosions and our powers of The Michael Bay and bring destruction.

I really wanna get to making longer films, especially the fiction project. I still gotta think of an idea but, hopefully it'll come to me.

Something good that happened this week??
Well, let's just say that on Friday me and Christina were on Skype for 11 hours straight up until 7 AM. Aw yas, we have no life. Heyyy, we were doing art!

I mean look at this!

Beautiful, right??

Although, I completely screwed myself and embarrassed myself in front of the theater kids because of my singing. I auditioned for my school's musical of 'The Addams Family' and I've always been a fan of The Addams Family with, everything. And I was auditioning for Pugsley and he has a small song and, I had to sing it so, for two months, I learned it and well, I screwed up really horribly. No tempo and I couldn't follow the piano tempo so, I also CAN'T SING. So, yeah, I cried and it went all downhill.
